From June 23 to 25, the Asociación Q’eqchi’ Xch’ool Ixim (Corazón de Maíz) carried out a training program for the teaching staff of the Instituto Maya Comunitario K’amolb’e (IMaCK) and members of the Association’s Board of Directors. This initiative strengthened both the overall wellbeing of the educational team and the pedagogical practices used in the classroom.
The training included reflection sessions on mental health, stress management, self care, and active listening as essential foundations for respectful and supportive educational accompaniment. Emphasis was placed on the importance of teacher wellbeing as a key factor in ensuring that Q’eqchi’ children and youth receive an education that is dignified, empathetic, and culturally meaningful.

The teaching team also participated in pedagogical sessions focused on improving active learning methodologies, fostering participatory classroom environments, and strengthening the way lessons are planned and delivered. These tools will help continue building educational processes that are relevant and closely connected to the community context.
The presence and participation of the Board of Directors reaffirm their commitment to institutional strengthening and to the construction of an educational model rooted in identity, cultural relevance, and community leadership.
These training days strengthened knowledge, community bonds, and the collective commitment to an education that grows from our Q’eqchi’ identity and responds to the realities of rural territories.
At Xch’ool Ixim, we believe that strong education begins with teachers who are strengthened in their hearts, their minds, and their vocation.
