ALUMNI VOCATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

The Alumni Program provides essential vocational support to graduates of Xch’ool Ixim (Heart of Corn) as they transition from secondary education to higher education and the labor market. The program equips them with academic, technical, and personal development tools that strengthen their capacity to succeed.

What is it?

A vocational orientation initiative that opens two complementary development paths: pursuing higher education or accessing dignified and sustainable employment opportunities. Currently, 24 alumni are actively participating.

How and where does it work?

The program is hosted primarily at our secondary school, the “Instituto Maya Comunitario K’amolb’e” (IMACK), where alumni meet four times per year. When new opportunities arise, we quickly share them with participants, identify the best candidates, and support them throughout the application process. Information sessions are often conducted online, while the application process is completed in-person at IMACK to ensure proper guidance.

Who is involved?

Xch’ool Ixim alumni are at the center, supported by our team of educators and mentors who provide guidance, access to computers and internet, and personalized follow-up.

Why is it needed?

Indigenous students from remote areas face systemic barriers to education and employment opportunities, including lack of access to technology, guidance, and reliable information. The Alumni Program bridges this gap by ensuring they receive equitable access, accompaniment, and tools to succeed.

When did it start?

The program began in 2024 with 10 graduates. In 2025:

→ We are now supporting a group of 24 alumni: a 140% increase!

Results and Goals
