The Story of Pinol*
Traditional pinol is made from finely ground and roasted corn, cacao, and cinnamon. It has been a staple for many indigenous peoples of Mexico and Central America, providing essential nutrition and sustenance since pre-Hispanic times. The name Pinol is derived from the Nahuatl word “pinolli,” meaning cornmeal. Today, pinol remains an essential ingredient in Central American cuisine, valued for its rich cultural heritage and health benefits.
We hope that you will enjoy the rich flavors and nutritional benefits of pinol, as you experience this ancient taste of Guatemala.
