The Story of Pinol

Traditional pinol is made from finely ground and roasted corn, cacao, and cinnamon. It has been a staple for many indigenous peoples of Mexico and Central America, providing essential nutrition and sustenance since pre-Hispanic times. The name pinol is derived from the Nahuatl word “pinolli,” meaning cornmeal. Today, pinol remains an integral ingredient in Central American cuisine, valued for its rich cultural heritage and health benefits.

We hope that you will enjoy the robust flavors and nutritional benefits of pinol, as you experience this ancient taste of Guatemala.

Your steady monthly gift—whether $10, $25, $50, or more—creates lasting change from within the community. Every monthly donation plants seeds for continued growth.

Together, we nurture the seeds of identity, learning, and hope.

Anonymous Donors

We are especially grateful to our anonymous donors, as you are critical to our growth and sustainability. Sadly, we are unable to contact you directly. We realize that some of you may not even realize that you are giving anonymously because it is the “default” selection on our Donation page (a legal requirement). If you have not heard from us, please check your Donor account as you may wish to change the “anonymous” setting so that we can express our gratitude and share stories of our community impact.
